We are only weeks away from receiving our stocks of some serious new barefoot shoes from New Balance. The current Minimus T10 is a 4mm heel elevation but barefoot enthusiasts have been craving for a New Balance shoe with no heel elevation.
The two new shoes are the New Balance Minimus MT00 and MR00.
New Balance Minimus MT00
This shoe has an off-road sole and is insanely light at 124gm. It has a no-sew inside surface that is ideal for wearing without socks.
New Balance Minimus MR00
The R00 is designed for road use. It has a harder and thinner sole with modest cushioning. The midsole includes a small amount of instep support. It weighs a bit more at 181 gm.
We think both these shoes show how rapidly New Balance have seriously adopted “proper” zero drop barefoot shoes. They look great and importantly look like road and trail shoes should look, so they suit conservative runners who do not want to scream out “barefoot runner look at me”.
