VivoBarefoot Neo Trail Mens Shoe
The Neo Trail takes a familiar looking VivoBarefoot sole but adds a number of 4mm "lugs" that add grip to the sole for softer but slippery surfaces. Now you might think that adding 4mm lugs to a 2.5mm thick sole would lead to a shoe with reduced levels of proprioception, but the opposite seems to be the case. The lugs are made of firm rubber so they offer minimal cushioning and pass information about the running surface directly to the 2.5mm sole without filtering out important feedback information. So the net affect is more akin to wearing a shoe with only a 2.5mm sole.
In addition to high levels of proprioception the VivoBarefoot Neo Trail also has to absolutely key features:
- They look great. In our opinion they look more like conventional running shoes than any other shoe that VivoBarefoot make, which will make them very attractive to buyers who don't want to draw attention to the fact that they are wearing barefoot shoes. VivoBarefoot also seem to have got a better handle on colours with the Neo Trail compare very well with any other footwear brand
- The price is right. Compared to the existing Neo at an RRP of £85.00 and the Evo at £99.00 the Neo Trail looks very keenly priced at £89.00.
The shoes retain the VivoBarefoot patented puncture resistant layer within the sole that helps to ptrotect your foot from damage by sharp objects.
In our opinion one disadvantage of the Neo Trail is that the weight is a little bit on the high side at just under 200gm, which makes them about 50gm more than the Evo and Neo.
